15 killed, over 50 injured in inter clan fights in Rumbek

15 people were killed and 52 others wounds after inter clan fights between the Niel-Niel sub-section of Pakam community of Rumbek North at Abut Village of Rumbek centre.

The commissioner of Rumbek North county, Mourlana Moses Maker Magok confirmed the incident saying the fighting occurred at the village called Abut village and that is being resided by Padiangbor clan of Nielniel section.

The commissioner said the cause of the fight remain unknown as authorities take up the matter.

“During the clashes, one person was killed in the morning among PanRuop, and this is how the fighting started at around 11:00 Am, again in the afternoon, the youth from pan Ruop assembled themselves and they launched attacked on theother rival section and this is where the casualties increased on bothsides in which 15 people were killed and 52 others were wounded”. He said.

Speaking at the scene of incident in the village where the wounded people were picked and taken to hospital for treatment.

” The peace dialogue between Padiangbor and pan Ruop was done inRumbek, but I don’t know what triggered this conflicts again while thepeace dialogue was conducted among those parties to the conflicts andthis is what I know as a commissioner of Rumbek North county”, he said

Doctor Terran Madit Terran, Medical director of Rumbek State hospital said yesterday the hospital received casualties of a gunshot from Rumbek North county.

He said they were so many of them almost 30 patients with gunshot wounds with different types and categories of injuries of which 10 of them are really very serious

” Yesterday, also upon receiving them, the necessary resuscitation was done, but 5 of them were taken to operations theater to operate on them, all of them sustained gunshots at the abdomen of which they under went laboratory miss which are gunshot at the abdomen”. He said

He added that doctor conducted operations on serious cases and other are to be referred to Kuna for further treatment.

“Due to distance, and excessive bleeding many of them arrived with no enough blood,but the hospital tried to make blood transfusion for them while we were operating on them, and the rest of the patients has different injuries, others sustained gunshot wounds on upper limbs and others on the lower limbs”, he said.
