A fresh cattle raid in Warrap state has left five people death, several injured with hundreds of cattle missing.

Warrap state Minister of Information and the government spokesperson, James Ayieth Bath confirmed to the media that the attack occurred over the weekend at Akuac Wol in Twic County.

However, he pointed fingers on armed youth from neighbouring Unity State, a statement refuted by the press secretary in the office of the governor of Unity State.

“The attackers from Unity State killed 5 people, wounded 3 others, and raided 305 cattle from Twic county,” Ayiek claimed in the statement.

He expressed that attacked that took placed at Akuac Wol inTwic County of Warrap State devasted the area with women and children displaced in the bushes.

Ayiek called on Authorities in Unity State to ensure that armed Youth who killed, injured and raided are held accountable.

“On behalf of Warrap state, I strongly condemn the repeated attacks on civilians of Warrap state by Unity State armed Youth, I call upon the government of Unity State to take responsibility for this criminal aggression and hold accountable the perpetrators of these cross-border criminal attacks,” he appealed.

In respond to the alleged attack, Koh Koang Manyuek, Press Secretary in the office of the governor of Unity state expressed that the state government remain committed to investigate such incident.

“The state government would stress and those who raider the cattle would be held accountable, it can be tolerated” Koang said

He expressed that Unity state government remain committed to building peace among the neighbouring communities.  

“We are focusing on pace and whoever found guilty of raiding must be held accountable whether within or from neighbours” he said

He reiterated that both the Warrap state and Unity State officials has been in communication and always ready to dialogue and resolve misunderstanding like cases of violence.
