The Catholic community in Nzara County of Western Equatoria State came together in sorrow and gratitude early this week as hundreds filled Nakindo Sene Catholic Parish to honor the life of Sr. Bianca Gbinza,

Sr. Bianca, 93-year-old nun whose decades of selfless service and prayer touched countless lives.

Sr. Bianca passed away at St. Theresa Mission Hospital in Nzara after a short illness.

Presiding over the funeral Mass, Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura–Yambio described Sr. Bianca as a woman who spent her life entirely for God and humanity, without reserve, without hesitation.

“She has been a candle burning in the darkness, offering light to those who needed it most. Her 93 years were not just lived, but given,” Bishop Kussala said, his voice tinged with emotion.

The Bishop urged the faithful to follow Sr. Bianca’s example of humility, deep faith, and quiet strength, noting that her decades of ministry left an indelible mark not only on Western Equatoria but also on everyone who crossed her path.

“She lived in simplicity, but her influence was profound. Even in her final years, she never ceased to inspire those who came to her for counsel or prayer,” he added.

Mourners described Sr. Bianca as a spiritual mother, a source of wisdom, and a figure whose kindness shaped generations of believers. Many said her passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt within the parish and beyond.

As the coffin was lowered into the earth, parishioners sang hymns of hope, echoing the Bishop’s words that Sr. Bianca’s life was not just a passage to death, but a mission fulfilled a testament of unwavering devotion to God and humanity.
