The African Union delegation arrived in Juba on Sunday to engage in high-level discussions with South Sudanese officials regarding the nation’s ongoing peace process.
This visit comes amidst growing political and security challenges surrounding the 2018 peace agreement.
The AU Peace and Security Council delegation was received by Ambassador Kureng Pac, Director General for Multilateral Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The three days visit will illustrates the African Union’s unwavering commitment to promoting stability, peacebuilding, and development in South Sudan.
The delegation will hold a series of consultative meetings with senior government officials as part of the AU’s efforts to enhance the implementation of the peace deal.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this visit signifies a robust collaboration between the AU and South Sudan in advancing peace, security, and regional development.
During the visit, South Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Ambassador Monday Semaya K. Kumba, also welcomed H.E. Malik Agar, Deputy Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereign Council.
The Sudanese delegation is anticipated to engage in separate talks with senior South Sudanese officials aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and fostering dialogue between the two nations.
