The Council of Ministers of Central Equatoria State has approved a draft budget of SSP 72.3 billion for the 2025/2026 fiscal year.
During an extraordinary cabinet meeting held on Monday at the State Secretariat in Juba, chaired by the Governor of Central Equatoria State, H.E. Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel.
In his media briefing, Hon. Jacob AligoLo-Lado, the Acting Minister of Information and Communication, said the budget approval followed a presentation by the State Minister of Finance, Planning and Investment, Hon. Salah Rajab Bunduki.
“The Cabinet has deliberated and passed the draft budget for the 2025/2026 fiscal year, estimated at SSP 72.3 billion. The approval also includes the draft tax rate schedules and the Appropriation Bill for the same period, with a number of amendments,” Hon. Aligo told reporters after the meeting.
The draft budget will now be forwarded to the state parliament for ratification.
In addition to the budget discussions, the Council received a security briefing from the State Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement Agency.
The briefing highlighted a recent attack on a South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) base in Bazi, Morobo County, reportedly carried out by a holdout group on Sunday.
The Minister expressed deep concern over the growing threat posed by such armed elements, warning of potential destabilization in the area.
The state government reiterated its commitment to ensuring security and the rule of law in all counties of Central Equatoria State.
