The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) has announced a series of internal transfers and promotions aimed at improving operational efficiency, strengthening oversight and aligning with international aviation standards.

In a press statement released Wednesday, SSCAA Director General Hon. John Woja Elinana said the changes reflect a strategic effort to modernize and enhance the country’s aviation services, while recognizing the dedication of the institution’s staff.

“These normal administrative changes are part of a broader strategy to align SSCAA operations with its national mandate and international aviation standards,” Elinana noted in a statement.

As part of the shake-up, Capt. Dau Majak, the former General Manager of Juba International Airport has been promoted to General Manager of Regional Airports, where he will oversee operations at airstrips and airports across the country.

Meanwhile his deputy Eng. Kat Mosety Monyjok has been named Acting General Manager of Juba International Airport(JIA), South Sudan’s busiest aviation hub, and will be responsible for maintaining smooth and efficient operations at the young East African nation’s international gateway.

The leadership changes come as SSCAA continues efforts to professionalize the civil aviation sector and strengthen institutional accountability.

However the announcement which was first met with fury and mix reactions from South Sudanese netizens especially the relief and transfer of Dau Majak from JIA emphasized that all airports and related developments remain under the sole authority of SSCAA and its Board of Directors.

“All ongoing projects and developments within these airports are implemented only with the approval and guidance of SSCAA and the Board of Directors,” the statement clarified.

The Civil Aviation Authority reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, safety, and service delivery, stressing that the moves are part of a long-term vision to build a safe, secure, and sustainable aviation sector for South Sudan.
