The Center for Peace and Advocacy (CPA) has condemned President Salva Kiir and his allies for the violations of 2018 peace agreements and urged them to cease.

While addressing Journalists over the weekend, Ter Manyang, Executive Director for the Center for Peace and Advocacy (CPA) condemned President Salva Kiir and his allies for the violations and urged them to cease.

“The removal of the governors of Western Equatoria, Jonglei State, and Upper Nile is a clear indication that the Presidentand allies are violating peace in the country” Ter said.

South Sudan President Salva Kiir, First Vice Presidents Dr. Riek Machar as principals signed peace deal in 2018, however till now it’s implementation faces obstacles due to what peace monitors defined as lack of political will.

“These actions were taken without consulting the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) and the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA)” he added.

According to peace monitors, there are serious of violations of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS) by the incumbent Transitional Government of National Unity (ITGoNU) headed by President Salva Kiir.

However, the government spokesperson Michael Makueirepeatedly call on the Public to remain optimistic that the ongoing violations are not threatening peace agreement.

The activist reiterated that, series of violation threatened peace as well as undermine the trust and relative progress made by the parties to the peace agreement.

He called upon the international community to convene a meeting before the situation deteriorates further in the country.

However, Article 1.9 of the R-ARCSS states that the RTGoNU is founded on the premise of collegial collaboration in decision-making and continuous consultations within the Presidency, that comprised of First Vice President, and the four Vice Presidents, to ensure governance during the transitional period.
this simple means that before President Salva removes or appoint any post holder, the presidency in particular has to be in consultations.

The Peace party to which the position belongs to has to have internal arrangements on who to recommend for President to appoint.
