Electoral commission recommends youth elections, says it give hopes for 2026 National Election

South Sudan National Elections Commission (NEC) Chairperson prof Abednego Akok Kacuol appreciated youth Organizations adding that their level give hope for the upcoming country’s election in 2026.

South Sudan Election continue to delay due to disagreement between peace parties however hope has been placed in 2026, for election to occur.

While presiding over Twic East Youth Association (TEYA)campaigns for election 2025-2027 in Juba, Commissioner Akok appreciated the process and level of preparation.

Twic East Youth Association (TEYA) is wing of Twic Community Association in Juba, Association made up of community members from Twic East County of Jonglei state.

The election campaign that took place on Saturday with subsequent election on Sunday brought thousand of participates to take part at Gumbo Shirakat, a resident area in Juba.

While candidature is base on alliance base with maximum of five groups ready to compete for the leadership for 2025-2026, a two-year term.

In his address, prof Abednego Akok the Chairperson of National Elections Commission (NEC) appreciated the youth election committee adding that their level of preparation gives hope for 2026 election.

“When i come for youth election like this TEYA Campaign, ifeel Honor because they are organized well and these give hope in our upcoming National Election in 2026” Akok said

“Youth are organizing election in counties and when election come, they will elect their leaders without problem and it give hope, it is part of civic education” he said.

He appreciated the youth election committee and urged the other youth groups to imitate the same.

“I am very happy and ask God to keep people health to ensure that 2026 election is successful, i appreciated TEYA independent electoral committee for these beautiful election preparation” he said
NEC chairperson urged the contestants to later own accept the results of the election and ensure that the support one another.

Dr. Akech Awan Adit the Chairman of TEYA Independent Electors Committee, 2025-2027 Juba South Sudan vowed to ensure that the elections are transparent and fair.

He called on the candidates to accept defeat after election adding that the seat is one an could not accommodate all of them.

On his part Arok Dut Arok the Chairperson of Twic East Youth Association (TEYA) appreciated the committed for their commitment toward successful election preparation.

He appealed to the candidates for their continuous health campaigns and urged to accept defeat after election.
