The National Minister of Information, Communication, Technology and postal services, Michael Makuei Lueth has denied a report of political standoff over the arrest of first Vice president Dr. Riak Machar Teny.
In a press statement issued yesterday, Makuei condemned the South Sudan TMZ tabloid accusation on 12/8/2025 with headline “political Rift Deepens Over the Arrest of FVP Dr. Riak Machar”.
“The Ministry condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the reckless spread of misinformation and urges the public to treat the said articles with contempt it deserves,” it stated.
The statement reiterated that the alleged publication involving Honourable Makuei and other officials was baseless and lacked factual foundation.
“The Ministry wishes to categorically make it clear that the content of this article is wholly false, misleading, and malicious in intent,” it read.
It also emphasized that the fabricated report was calculated attempt to misinform the public, distort facts and jeopardize peace in the country.
The statement further urged the media practitioners to adhere to the media ethics rather principles in favour of sensationalism that may clash with the laws of the Republic of South Sudan.
It also underscored the ministry reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, responsible communication and the safeguard of the public trust.
