Lawmakers from Lainya County in Central Equatoria State have raised serious concerns over persistent insecurity and inadequate service delivery in the region, calling for immediate intervention from the state government.
During a courtesy visit to the Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, members of the Revitalized Transitional National Legislative Assembly (RTNLA) emphasized the urgent need to address growing instability, which continues to displace residents and hinder agricultural activities in the county.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Awate Esther John, State Chairperson of the Lainya Parliamentary Caucus, outlined several pressing issues facing the county.
These include continued attacks by holdout armed groups, a lack of proper healthcare and education infrastructure, and threats posed by armed cattle herders encroaching from Bor and Terekeka.
“We expressed deep concern over the insecurity that has forced many of our people to flee and has disrupted farming, which is our main livelihood,” Esther said.
She further requested an ambulance to support the county health sector and discussed ways to restore Lainya’s lost glory. Believing better days are ahead for the people.
In response, Governor Emmanuel reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by Lainya County.
He emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation between the legislative and executive arms of government in promoting sustainable peace and development.
“The unity of our people is crucial in restoring peace. Only through collective effort can we bring about lasting stability and progress,” the Governor stated.
The visit marks a significant step in strengthening coordination between state institutions in tackling insecurity and improving service delivery across Central Equatoria.
