The Nile Petroleum Corporation (Nilepet) has vehemently denied circulating online claiming that the company has terminated the contracts of several employees.
In a statement issued by its Public Relations Department, the state-owned oil company dismissed the circulating list of names as “entirely false and misleading.”
The company’s statement asserted that no staff members have been dismissed and labeled the reports as a “malicious campaign of fake news designed to tarnish the reputation of the country’s leadership and the management of Nilepet.”
Nilepet further stated that the claims were “baseless” and that they would take legal action against those responsible for spreading what it called “malicious propaganda.”
The state oil company linked the origin of the reports to what it termed as anti-government elements attempting to undermine the nation’s image and cause public discontent.
Hence, Nilepet urged media outlets and journalists to verify information with official sources before publishing stories, warning that the spread of unverified reports could threaten national stability and cause panic.
Meanwhile, reaffirming its commitment to its employees’ well-being, the company called on the public to disregard the claims and restated its dedication to its mission and staff welfare.
