Mr Akech narrated that the conflict began when the family of a girl, who had eloped for the second time to her lover, attempted to return her, resulting in a fight when her brothers arrived to take her back.

‘’According to the information source, she came sometimes back but was taken by her brothers. This time she eloped to the man’s home and she was followed by her brothers. Upon their arrival they asked for their daughter and then fighting erupted between Angakuei and Maluel resulting in the killing of the girl’s brother he sustained two bullets and two suspects are custody while looking for others,’’ he stated.

‘’All people who were engaged in this fight will have to come in for investigation to find out what caused the fight and why fight if it was the issue of marriage,’’ he said.

Lieutenant Mapiou confirmed that investigations are underway, and the suspects will appear before court for trail.

He added that tensions were eased after Bor County authorities intervened to calm the situation.
Mapiou also urged the people of Jonglei, particularly from Bor County, to resolve marriage-related issues peacefully and avoid violence.

‘’This is not how we settle our marriage disputes in Jonglei and in Bor. I urge people to stop this practice because it cannot take us forward. This practice was not there before,’’ he added.
