President Salva Kiir urges Muslims to pray for Peace

South Sudan President Salva Kiir has urged the Muslim believers to continue to pray for peace in the country.

In his message of goodwill to Muslim faithfuls on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr celebration, Kiir urge faithfuls to preach for peace in the country.

“I urge you all to continue praying for our country that Allah (the most Merciful and Gracious) may give us collective wisdom, leaders and followers alike for peace to reign in every corner of our country” Kiir said

“I further, encourage everyone of you to contribute to peace building so that our country remains peaceful” he added

President Kiir reiterated that the Holy month of Ramadan means a lot to the believers hence emphasize on spiritual growth.

“The Holy Month of Ramadan teaches the faithful self-restraint, empathy for the less fortunate, and an increased focus on spiritual growth” he said

“As we share with you the celebration of Eid Al-Fitr, may the spirit of Eid fill your homes with happiness, your hearts with love, and your lives with endless blessings” he added

President Kiir statement came at the time the 2018 peace agreement continue to face numerous challenges including confrontations between armed forces.

On separate statement His Eminence Cardinal StephenAmeyu called on the South Sudan leaders to implement their promises.

“We once again call on President Salva Kiir Mayardit, all political leaders and parties to the agreement including the R-TGoNU, to Honor their sacred obligation to the people of South Sudan and resist any temptation to revert to arms” he said
