Education Minister released Senior Four examination results for the year 2024 in Lakes State on Friday.
A total of 1,949 candidates registered, (female 600 and male 1,349); However, 1,380 candidates passed the examination, (female 406 and male 974) which represents 70% passing rate, compared to last year low performance in which 980 candidates passed which represents 42% out of 2,270 registered candidates and 1,290 failed examination which represents 56% and 55 candidates absence which represents 2% respectively.
State Minister of General Education & Instructions Lakes State, Nelson Makoi Makur, said this year has impressively improved in the Examinations performance through hard work, dedication and perseverance from our students and teachers.
Females performance have also improved with five Female candidates dominating top five best performance candidates in Lakes State.
“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the candidates who took part in the examinations. Your hard work, commitment, and determination have demonstrated in today results, and you should be proud of your accomplishments.This is just the beginning of an exciting journey ahead, filled with opportunities for further education and personal growth. We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to H.E Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor, Governor of Lakes State for prioritize education and providing security, peace and stability in Lakes State.” He said.
Makur further appreciated those involved in achieving the milestone.
“Furthermore, we want to extend our profound gratitude to the teachers and educational staff who have tirelessly supported and guided the students throughout their academic journey. Your unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds is truly commendable, and your contributions have played a significant role in shaping the success of the candidates.” He said
He further urged that same spirits be enshrined in students and teachers to make a better society.
“As we move forward, let us continue to foster a spirit of excellence in education, empowering our youth to reach their full potential. Congratulations to all our successful students, and thank you once again to the remarkable teachers who have made this possible.” He said
“I want to assure our people in the media is that the difference between public schools and private schools is that private schools have limited number and they can screen students, “For example, in Abukloi and few other schools they screen candidates and then they accommodate number of candidates they believe they are capable to do the examinations.
He said for us as the government we don’t have a limitation for candidates.
“We don’t block anybody, so long these citizens are eager to pursue their education. We don’t block them. We give them opportunity to try their best so that they can be able now to sit for the secondary education and if they failed, they failed. So, for us as the government we have no limitation. We just opened opportunity to the citizens of this State”, he said.
