The Central Equatoria State Security Committee has called for greater cooperation among security agencies in the state to tackle growing security challenges affecting citizens.
The call was made during a recent security meeting held at the State Secretariat and chaired by Governor Rabi Mujung Emmanuel.
The committee deliberated extensively on pressing security concerns, urging for peace, unity, and love among communities.
Speaking to the media after the meeting today, the Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement, Hon. Leon Abe Brown, emphasized the need for national unity and civic responsibility among the people of Central Equatoria.
“In the past two months, we’ve seen a decline in gang-related activities, but there has been a noticeable rise in drug abuse, traffic accidents, street crimes (locally referred to as ‘Torontos’), and armed robberies,” Minister Leon stated.
He urged the Ministry of Health to intensify efforts in combating drug abuse, especially among the youth, which he described as a growing concern.
The Minister also called on local councils to share timely intelligence to help prevent criminal activities before they occur.
“We must work together—security agencies, local councils, and civilians—to ensure our communities are safe. Joint efforts and information sharing are key to improving security across the state,” he said.
Minister Leon further stressed the importance of coordination not only within Central Equatoria but also with neighboring states and administrative areas.
“We need peaceful co-existence among all security organs and between our communities. What happened recently in Mogri was unfortunate. As one people, we must promote peace, love, and unity across the country,” he added.
The CES Security Committee continues to urge the public to remain vigilant and cooperative with law enforcement as efforts are made to strengthen security across the state.
