The Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA), Rt. Hon. Jemma Nunu Kumba, President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Thursday highlighting Parliament’s recent legislative activities and preparations for the presentation of the 2025–2026 national budget.
The meeting, held at the State House in Juba, focused on key legislative priorities and the anticipated tabling of the national budget bill in Parliament in the coming days, thought the fiscal budget is yet to be tabled for deliberation at council of ministers for approval.
In statement to the media Speaker Nunu informed the President that the Assembly is finalizing discussions ahead of the formal presentation of the budget, which will guide national spending and development plans for the next financial year.
She praised the President’s unwavering support to the work of the National Assembly, saying it has been critical in strengthening the institution’s role in lawmaking and oversight.
“We deeply appreciate your continued support to Parliament,” Speaker Nunu commended the president, adding that the strong relationship between the Executive and the Legislature has laid the foundation for improved governance, peace building, and public service delivery across South Sudan.
The meeting underscored the importance of ongoing coordination between the two branches of government as the country navigates political and economic challenges ahead of the 2025 elections.
