“The letter expelling US Ambassador from South Sudan is fake.” Vice President Bol Mel

The Office of the Vice President and Chairperson of Economic Cluster Dr. Bejamin Bol Mel has denounced a concocted letter alleging expulsion of the US Ambassador from South Sudan.

According to the statement posted on the office of the Vice President social media page Citizens are urged to considered the said letter fake.

On Saturday, a press statement dated April 2024 surfaced on social media claiming that the the Office of the Vice Presidentfor Economic cluster issued an order expelling United States(US) Ambassador to South Sudan.

The statement however went Viral on social media with some of the members of the public terming it as a fake document designed by peace coddlers to spoil the relation between South Sudan and the United States of America.

In respond to the allegation the office of the Vice President and the Chair of Economic cluster, Dr. Benjamin Bol Melcondemned the letter citing it as fake document.  

“The Office of the Vice President and Chairperson of Economic Cluster firmly denounces a fraudulent letter currently circulating online” The statement partly read.

Last month, Michael Makuei Lueth, Minister of Information, Communication Technology, and Postal Services, who also serves as the government spokesperson warned social media from spreading unverified information.

In his address to journalists, Makuei appealed to the public to ignore propaganda that circulate on the social media.

“My advice to the public is to ignore the negative propaganda circulating on social media. These wild rumours can be dangerous when people read them and react impulsively,” he cautioned” Makuei said

He warned social media users to stop spreading unverified information and hate speech, which can incite fear among the public.

“We are supposed to use our social media for peace and harmony for social coexistence not to agitate war and encourage lawlessness and disorder social media users are advised to abide and respect the use of social media responsibly otherwise at the end of the day you find yourself in conflict with the law,” he reiterated.
