Unity State minister freed from detention

Unity State’s Minister of Education and general instructions has been release from detention days after party called for their immediate release.

The Acting Press Secretary in the office of the First Vice President, Puok Both Baluang has confirmed.

‘’We commend Minister Chieng’s release and call for the release of all remaining detained SPLM/A-IO Senior Officials, Senior Officers, and members.’’ Puokstated. 

Puok said in a statement that minister Chieng was released on Saturday at 1:30 pm.

He was among the delegation accompanying Unity State Deputy Governor Tor Tungwar to Bentiu via UNMISS aircraft.

Stephen a member of SPLM-IO was arrested on Friday at 9:30 Am at Juba International Airport.

Puot Kang Minister of Petroleum, Duop Lam, Deputy Chief of Defense, Gatwec Lam Puoch an MP representing Nasir and other 21 individuals are still under detention.

The government this month lifted immunities of theofficials detained in relation to Nasir conflict.
