The government of the state or Western Bahr El Ghazal has imposed measures banning the import, production and sale of toxic alcohol.
After series of deliberations in the state Capital Wau, the Council of Ministers resolve and approved the ban on all toxic alcohol.
Addressing the media after the meeting, the Secretary for Council of Ministers Hillary Musa urged all the companies to respect the ban on toxic alcohol.
“All the factories, companies and local producers are urged to comply with the new orders any violation will amount to legal action and subsequent imprisonment up to three to six months” the statement partly read
The council decision came at the time some of the residents in Western Bhar el Ghazal has been engage in alcoholism increasing violent and cases of loitering around the state.
The resolution on the ban of toxic Alcohol and drugs is aimed at protecting the residents and the youth in particular from the dangerous impact of alcoholism and drug addiction.
The among the alcohol bans in Western Bhar el Ghazal such as Siko/Aregi, Uganda Waragi, Royal Gin, Vodka, Wisky, Flash Vodka, Jakuar Cocktail, Seven Seven, Boss Gin among others.
Besides the toxic spirits the order also bans the prominent drug named as Tramadol, this is commonly use by the you one for the purpose of intoxication rather than as medication to any disease.
Musa urged the youth to focus on their studies as well as productive programs that could benefit the communities and the country at large.
Last month, the security apparatus in Central Equatoria State started a crackdown on alcoholic spirits that have been banned by former Governor Gen. Augustino Jadalla Wani Through an Order.
Recently Central Equatoria State (CES) threatened to revoke the licenses of a company and traders that continue to produce and sell banned alcoholic liquor commonly known as “Jena Far.”
CES former Governor, Gen. Augustino Jadalla Wani and other state officials inspected Juba suburbs to reinforce the implementation of the Order banning the production and sale of such harmful alcoholic spirits across the state.
The officials also inspected some producing companies and factories in Gumbo to acquaint themselves with their operations and implementation of the Order.
Addressing the media during the inspection exercise, Juba County Commissioner, Emmanuel Tete warned that, traders despising the Order banning sales or production of dry gin risk revocation of their trading license as well as closure of business.
“All traders involved in selling alcohol should abide by the order. When we arrest any trader with any alcohol called gin, we will first take away your trading license and close your business,” Tete warned.
The categorized banned dry gin include; royal gin, rhino waragi, star gin, disco gin, okapi gin, chief gin, golden gin, London No. 1, red gin, zebra gin, seven seven, king waragi, among other gins not mentioned.
Meanwhile, alcohols such as beers, Bavaria and wines, among others are free from the ban.
