South Sudan army spokesperson Major General Lul Ruai Koang has announced that South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) remains on all security mechanisms.

This week, SPLM-IO Deputy Chairman Oyet Nathaniel Pierino announced that the party had suspended its  participation in all security mechanisms pending the release of its members detained by the National Security Service.

However, Oyet stated that SPLM-IO will be attending RJMEC plenary meetings.
Maj Gen. Koang stated the Co-chair of Joint Defence Board Lt. Gen. Garang Akol Ayii who doubles as the Director General for Procurement at the Ministry of Defense and Veterans Affairs reaffirmed that SSOA will continue participating in all  security mechanisms.

Koang pointed out in a statement that SSOA became part and parcel of SSPDF upon unification of the first echelons of command as well as in the organized forces.

He said SSOA has also  condemned the assassination of Lt. Gen. David Majur Dak by the white army in Nasir of Upper.

He stated that SSOA recognizes President Salva Kiir Mayardit as the only Commander -IN- Chief of SSPDF and the Supreme Commander of all organized forces.

Koang further dismissed rumors circulating on social media alleging the arrest of Lt. Gen. Garang Akoll Ayii, adding that he is performing his usual duties.

The security mechanisms are Joint Defense Board (JDB), High Level Political Committee (HLPC), Joint Military Ceasefire Committee (JMCC), and Joint Transitional Security Committee (JTSC).
