South Sudan People’s Liberation Movement In Opposition party has announced that it has not halted their participation in all security mechanisms.
Few weeks ago, the Deputy Chairman of SPLM-IO party Nathaniel Oyet Pierino, announced that the party had stopped participation in all the security mechanisms.
The Acting Press Secretary in the office of the First Vice President, Puok Both Baluang said in a statement issued on Tuesday that the party has not suspended its participation.
“The SPLM/A-IO has not suspended its participation in these mechanisms.” He said.
“Therefore, all SPLM/A-IO representatives serving on all peace implementation mechanisms are hereby directed to continue fulfilling their assigned duties.” He added.
Puok pointed out that the detention of their party representatives, coupled with intimidation and unconducive environment has paralyzed several mechanisms.
He urged all security forces particularly National Secusity Service and SSPDF Military Intelligence (MI) to stop intimidating SPLM-IO members and allow them to perform their duties.
