SPLA-IO accuses SSPDF of bombing its base

The Sudan People Liberation Movement/Army in Opposition (SPLM/A-IO has accused South Sudan Peoples DefenseForces (SSPDF) for bombing their base in Wunaliet in Central Equatoria state.

The SPLM/A-IO military spokesperson, Col. Lam Paul Gabriel expressed that the bombardment on their cantonment site occurred on Monday evening, accusing the SSPDF of violation of the peace agreement.

“Bombardment of SPLA-IO cantonment site of Wunaliet near Juba.This evening at about 1900 hours, SSPDF bombarded randomly the SPLA-IO cantonment site.” . Paul claimed.

Wunaliet is just some few kilometres away from South Sudan Capital Juba.

Residents of Luri area in capital were in panic after series of gunshots were heard coming from Wunaleit Westward of Juba.

Some of the residents claimed that they heard a sound of war plane which was later followed by a a rare sound of bombsfalling from the sky.

Col Lam condemned the act and called on the international community to intervene  

“The SPLA-IO strongly condemns this SSPDF planned act and calls for urgent intervention from the International Community to stop this violence” he appealed.

The SSPDF leadership is yet to respond to the accusations however promise to do so as they gathered necessary facts about the incident.

Maj General Lul Ruai Koang the SSPDF spokesperson expressed that the leadership is gathering necessary information after which the public will be informed.

“This brief message serves to inform all media agencies that, the Office of SSPDF Spokesperson will issue a statement as soon as all relevant information is received from operational and base commanders on the ground at Nyamini and the surrounding areas including Wunliet” Lul said.

Meanwhile the public remain committed to get accurate information from the government in order to avoid further speculations on the social media.
