Mayom County MP condemns Abiemnom killings

A Member of Parliament representing Mayom County in Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA) has condemned the attacked in Abiemnom County, RuwengAdministrative Area.

On Wednesday, youth from Mayom County in Unity State attacked Abiemnom County of of Ruweng Administrative Area (RAA) leaving 36 people dead according to Hon. Chol Malith, RAA Information Minister.

James Lily Kuol the Commissioner of Mayom County confessed that their youth were involved in the incident citing that they were acting on revenge.

The commissioner condemned the attack on innocentCivilians and urged the Youth to cease hostilities.

In an exclusive Interview with this outlet, Moses Pieny aMember of Parliament representing Mayom County in Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA)condemned the act on people of Abiemnom County.

He called on the youth to cease hostilities citing that dialogue could be the only way to solve misunderstanding among the communities.

“People of Mayom and those in Abiemnom have lived for more years brothers and sisters and what happened on Wednesday, the Attack on Abiemnom is completely un acceptable and i condemned it in strongest term” Pieny said

The Law maker called the government in Mayom County as well as in Ruweng Administrative Area (RAA) to hold those behind it accountable.

“There is need to bring those who carried the attack on innocent people to book, all those fuelling conflict from both sides have to cease” he said

He urged the Youth to cease violent as well as reject any manipulation that may incite violent among the communities.

“i want the youth to cease confrontations and hostilities, the use of violent can not take us, it peace that can allow us to progress and develop our area” he added.

The law maker added that there is need for the Youth to focus on making livelihood through Agriculture and other initiatives.

on sperate noted while addressing Journalist, Tiob de Monyluak the Chief Administrator of Ruweng Administrative Area (RAA) condemned the act on people of Abiemnom adding that it is inhuman to kill one another.

The Chief Administrator expressed bot government of Unity state as well as RAA condemned the act of violent and remain in coordination to ensure such act is completely stopped.  

“The government of Unity state does condemn the action equally the way we do because we highly condemned this atrocity and this is unbecoming and it is inhuman” he said.
