The management of a community based Radio station, Radio Jonglei in Bor Town has called on the state leadership to allow them to resume broadcasting to serve the community with essential content.

The call comes after station was temporarily shutdown on Sunday by the state security operatives for airing a traditional war song linked to one of the communities involved in Twic and Duk dispute.

The Executive Director of the state Tijwog H Agwet in a statement issued on Tuesday apologized to the community for any distress the song may have caused.

Agwet also denied the claims circulating on social media that staff members were arrested by the security.

“We would also like to clarify misinformation currently circulating on social media. The claim is that Radio Jonglei was attacked and staff members were arrested are completely not true,” he said.

“No staff member was arrested. On Monday, 9 June 2025, the management team responded to summon by the National Security office in Bor for investigations and we returned safely, with no arrests made,” he added.

He appreciated the state government for their efforts to protect his staff during the sensitive period, adding that its only media authority that has the legality to close down any media house.

He reaffirmed that Radio Jonglei has always stood as a platform for peace, unity, and development in Jonglei State.

“Although we regret the circumstances that led to this temporary shutdown, we remain fully committed to responsible journalism and constructive community dialogue,” he said.

“We are committed to continued engagement wifh state authorities, community leaders, and our audience to ensure that Radio Jongiei remains a trusteg/voice and unifying force across Jonglei State,” he stated.

This is not the first time authorities have shutdown Radio Jonglei. In May 2022, the station was briefly closed for failing to broadcast a speech by then-Governor Denay Jock Chagor, sparking national criticism.
