The Commissioner of Morobo county in Central Equatoria state, Charles Data Bullen said forces from Sudan People Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) attacked Morobo County on Friday resulting in burning of ambulances and looting of medicine.

He expressed that the unexpected target on health care unit subjected the residents to suffering after the SPLM-IO burnt down the two functional ambulance and went away with drugs recently supplied by partners.

“It was unfortunate, the SPLA-IO forces attacked the hospital at Night, burnt down two ambulances and looted all the equipment and drugs in the hospital” Data said.

He called on the national government to strengthen security in the area adding that targeting health sector is the same like killing the residents because their health defend on the hospital.

Efforts by this outlet to reach to the SPLA-IO forces for comment were not successful.

Commissioner claimed that the attacker from the SPLA-IO who raided the hospital threaten the hospital staff who were on duty and disarmed them of their property such as laptops and phones.

Data said that there no injuries were sustained during the raiding since most of the people at the area flee the area since they came in large numbers.

“Fortunately, no patients were injured during the attack, the SPLM-IO were many and when the attack the found few harmless staff of which they looted their property” he said

The commissioner however condemned and urged the SPLA-IO forces to cease attacking or ambushing civilians as well as structures that save lives like the hospitals.

Meanwhile the Executive Director for Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) Edmund Yakani condemned the attacked and called on peace monitors to investigate.

“As i speak now the population of Morobo county has no functional medical facility after their hospital was burnt down by SPLA-IO” Yakani said

“I would to take this opportunity to condemned this act, it is un acceptable act, inhuman, degrading” he added

Yakani expressed that the attacked-on hospitals is a human right violation and a Collective punishment on civil population that need to be investigated.

“I would like to appeal to CTSAMVM to investigate this act and write their independent report and also call on the Human Right commission of the UN to look into this case as human right violation and serious one” he said

The activist urged acknowledged that forces have started to divert their attacks on life-saving facilities citing that it is a dangerous move as it has been witnessed in the recent days.

“I would like to appeal to the leaders of our warryingparties now we have seen clearly a new case where forces are turning into civilian facilities this is now the second hospital that has been attacked, we have seen Pangakhospital and now we have seen Morobo hospital” he added

He urged the armed parties to cease confrontations and engage on dialogue.
