Governor Louis Lobong Lojore has officially commissioned the Lolere Bridge back into use after it remained closed for three weeks due to severe structural damage.

The bridge, now restored and open to traffic, is once again enabling the smooth movement of vehicles across the area.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Lobong expressed deep appreciation to H.E. the President of the Republic for ensuring the bridge’s timely rehabilitation, and to the national Ministry of Roads and Bridges for their swift intervention.

He noted that the closure had significantly affected the people of Eastern Equatoria, halting businesses, disrupting trade, and even resulting in the loss of vehicles and property washed away by the river.

The Governor commended Rhino Star Company, led by Managing Director Engineer Atem Ngor, for their rapid and high-quality repair work.

He hailed Mr. Ngor as a patriotic son of South Sudan and a true friend of Eastern Equatoria, praising his personal commitment, time, and resources in serving the community.

Lobong called for greater empowerment of national and local companies, noting that they stand by the people during emergencies, unlike some foreign contractors.

He assured the public that repairs will continue on other damaged bridges along the same road, including Khor-English, Khor Galerio, and Khor-Timsah bridges.

For part, Engineer Atem Ngor thanked the State Government for the security and support provided during the repair works.

He pledged continued cooperation with the government and reaffirmed his company’s dedication to serving the people of South Sudan.

Engineer Atem also praised the Governor for maintaining peace, saying security in Eastern Equatoria is “100 percent good and normal,” and encouraged investors to seize the safe and stable environment to do business in the state.
