The people of Manyang-ngok payam of Tonj South county have received humanitarian assistance from the office of the governor.

The support is the fulfillment of governor’s promise made during his peace tour in conflict affected areas of the state.

The delivery was made by the commissioner of Tonj South County John Ayitiak Warwien in Manyang-ngok over the weekend.

The humanitarian crisis due to persistent conflict in Warrap State has left people in brink of starvation.

Early this month, the governor paid a courtesy visit to acquaint himself with the level of destruction caused by conflict and the challenges associated with the conflict.

The items donated includes; food and non-food items.

Speaking during the delivery of the handing over, the commissioner John Ayitiak Warwien appreciated the governor for listening to the voices of vulnerable communities’ members.

Ayitiak emphasized on the need to carryout disarmament exercise without resistance from the locals.

He called on the traditional and youth leaders to cooperate with the government toward provision of basic service.

Amou Mayen Loi, a beneficiary of the humanitarian assistance, applauded the unconditional support from the office of the governor saying it is a gesture for restoration of hope and peace in the area.

Representing the voices of displaced and helpless mothers, Mayen grieved for the lost souls due to communal violence.

Manyang-ngok Payam is one of the remotest administrative units in the state with poor communication and roads network, health and educational institutions.
