‎South Sudan has announced the release of 27 young individuals who had been imprisoned in Ethiopia for illegally crossing the border.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation made this announcement on Thursday.
‎
‎The group, consisting entirely of cattle herders, was apprehended while armed after entering Ethiopian territory and had been detained at Muzan Prison.
‎
‎Recently, Foreign Affairs spokesperson Ambassador Apuk Ayuel revealed that the South Sudanese government had been actively negotiating for their release through its embassy in Addis Ababa.
‎
‎“The Ministry has been in discussions with the Ethiopian government regarding the situation of these 27 individuals. They are now free as they were previously imprisoned. Arrangements are being made for their return to South Sudan,” Ayuel stated.
‎
‎The Ministry is currently coordinating transportation to ensure the safe return of the youth, with further updates anticipated in the coming days.
