The Government of Western Equatoria State, under the leadership of Governor H.E. James Al Taib Berapai, has officially sworn in senior state officials appointed by the President in late July this year. The ceremony was conducted through the state judiciary wing at the State Secretariat in Yambio.

Those sworn into office include the State Advisor for Economic Affairs, the Ministers for Local Government, Agriculture, Parliamentary Affairs, Animal Resources and Fisheries, Roads, Transport and Bridges, the Commissioner of Yambio County, and the Chairperson of the State Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC).

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Al Taib urged the newly sworn-in officials to uphold the rule of law and adhere to both the national and state constitutions. He further called on them to prioritize service delivery to the community.

Deputy Governor Justin Joseph Marona commended the appointments, stating, “This is a pivotal moment for our state. Together, we will work to ensure transparent governance and responsive service delivery to our people.”

Yambio County Commissioner Ismail Michael highlighted the importance of community-centered leadership, saying, “Our focus is to bridge the gap between the administration and the citizens. Every decision we make will be for the benefit of our people.”

The new Minister of Local Government Hon. Alison Barnaba echoed the call for accountability: “We are committed to strengthening local governance structures and ensuring that development reaches every corner of Western Equatoria.”

State Advisor for Economic Affairs added, “Economic planning and sustainable development are key priorities. We aim to create opportunities that will uplift the livelihoods of our communities.”

The swearing-in ceremony marks a significant step in the state’s effort to strengthen governance and accelerate development across Western Equatoria.
