The government of Warrap state has established a joint traditional Court to handle cattle raiding and theft incidents between Tonj North and Tonj East counties respectively.

The court is empowered by the state government to facilitate the return of looted properties and raided cattle to their rightful owners.

The tribunal is being chaired by the Paramount chief Mawan Dhuriak from Luacjang community and other four drawn from the neighboring communities of Lou Paher, Apuk Padoc, Thiik and Awan Parek.

This followed a joint peace conference held in Marial-Lou Payam of Tonj North County between five neighboring communities of Tonj East and Tonj North counties.

The Acting commissioner of Tonj North County Agany Lok Agany called on the local population to cooperate with the court.

In his words, this initiative aimed at restoring calm and enhance justice administration among community members.

The conflict among these communities has been at the peak triggered by cattle raiding, revenge killing and land disputes claiming more lives and destruction of properties.
