Aviation Authority issues eviction notice to owners of illegal structures in airport land

The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority has reiterated its call on the owners of illegal structures at Juba International Airport (JIA) to vacate.

The Director General of South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority John Woja Elinan urged the owners of warehouses, containers illegally erected in JIA to respect the order.

“We are upgrading the airport and that is why we ordered the owners of all the structures illegal erected to vacate, I still call on them to do so” Woja said.

While speaking to the media, Woja expressed that recently the Aviation Authority gave the owners a period of two weeks to vacate however most containers remain intact.

The DG added that the decision is part of the ongoingupgrading of Juba International Airport to meet world standard.

“For us to meet world standard, our airport within and outside has to be clean, all these illegal structures has to be removed” he said.

Recently the Aviation Authority ordered the owners of outdated airplanes as well as owners of Warehouses and containers illegally erected at JIA to vacate.

The order dated 18th of March called on the owners to vacate illegal structures along the ring road and within the airport land in the period of two weeks.

He urged the owners of the containers illegally erected at the airport to comply with the implementers in order to prevent misunderstanding and violence.

Woja added that the decision is in good faith and will ease progress in developing the airport.

However according to the letter dated 18 March 2024, South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority gave the owners of the illegal structures two weeks to vacate.

Among those who were notified are the proprietors of the obsolete airplanes, Warehouses along the ring road and containers within the airport land.

“Therefore, you are here by directed to remove all the above classified items within a period of (2) weeks after this announcement” the order read partly.

“Failure to comply shall attract legal repercussion” it add.
