The National Minister of Trade and Industry Hon. Atong Kuol Manyang officially opened the new Beijing Supermarket in Juba on Friday marking a significant milestone in the growing economic relationship between China and South Sudan.

The new venture inaugurated on Friday is expected to boost the local economy by creating jobs and generating revenue.

In her remarks, Minister Atong extended her gratitude to the stakeholders of the Beijing Hotel for their ongoing partnership.

She highlighted China’s long-standing support for South Sudan, which includes major investments in road infrastructure, the petroleum sector, healthcare, and educational scholarships.

The new supermarket, she noted, is a direct result of this strong cooperative relationship.

Describing the supermarket as both “convenient” and “strategic,” the Minister emphasized its role in creating employment opportunities for South Sudanese citizens.

She concluded her address with a call to action, encouraging other investors to consider South Sudan.

The Trade Minister assured potential investors of the government’s full support and expressed hope that the new supermarket would serve as a “bridge” to expanding access to the South Sudanese market.

Minister Atong also urged the Chinese business community to use more local products, which would further stimulate the domestic economy.

The opening ceremony was attended by key officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, including the Director General of Domestic Trade and the Director General of Bilateral Trade.
