Bor County Commissioner, Samuel Ateny Pech Ariik, has officially launched an internal road renovation project aimed at improving accessibility and easing movement within Bor town.
The initiative, inaugurated on Friday, September 26, 2025, seeks to rehabilitate key road networks that have long posed challenges to residents due to their poor state.
According to Commissioner Ateny, the first phase of the project will prioritize the Langbaar area, focusing on three major stretches: the road from Karaba Roundabout to Langbaar Junction, the road linking Akuot Ayol to Tibek, and the stretch from NRC Junction to Radio Jonglei.
“I am responding to the urgent call by the people of Bor about the bad roads that have made life difficult for our residents,” he said during the launch.
The Commissioner also appealed to the Bor Municipal Council and local residents to cooperate with the county government to ensure timely and successful completion of the project.
“This project is a commitment to improving the infrastructure that is important for the social and economic well-being of our community,” he added.
The poor condition of Bor’s internal roads has been a long-standing issue, often disrupting transport, trade, and daily life, particularly during the rainy season. Authorities say the renovation drive will ease these challenges while boosting both social interaction and economic activity.
Commissioner Pech was appointed Commissioner of Bor County earlier this month and officially assumed office on September 22, following his swearing-in ceremony.
However, In his inaugural remarks, Pech pledged to prioritize peace, security, and development while working closely with local chiefs to strengthen unity and improve service delivery.
The launch of the road renovation project marks his first major development initiative since taking office.
