Central Equatoria State Govt urge cattle traders in Mogiri to Coexist Peacefully

The government of Central Equatoria State Government has urged cattle traders operating in Mogiri Boma of Mangalla Payam to cease violence and exist peacefully.

The state government made the call during an official visit to Mogiri Cattle Market to inspect the activities in the area.

On arrival the government delegation led by Hon. Angelo Daya, the State Advisor for Peace and Security supervised the area and urged the traders to unite and ensure team work.

The visit and subsequent tour of the area was aimed to assess the status of cattle trading activities in the area.

‎Mogiri Cattle Market primarily hosts traders from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area and remain a trader site for the blundering communities of Central Equatoria state, Jonglei and Greater Pibor Administrative Area.

‎speaking to traders in Mogiri Payam, Leon Abe Brown, the State Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement Agency conveyed a message from the Governor of Central Equatoria State highlighting the need for unity among cattle traders.

‎“When you come with your cows, notify the relevant authorities in Central Equatoria, particularly in Juba, because your security here is a shared responsibility,” he stated.

‎He urged the traders to carryout their businesses peaceful and ensure that crimes are reduce in the area.

‎”Peaceful coexistence among you as cattle traders is essential in promoting economic stability,” he said.

‎Zakaria Kengen Representing the cattle traders from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area, expressed gratitude for the State government’s visit and engagement.

He called on the state government to ensure that the inter state trade is encourage in order to boost the business in Mogiripayam.

“inter-state collaboration between Central Equatoria and the Greater Pibor Administrative Area to enhance the cattle trade.” He said.

Last year at least 22 people were killed when cattle traders from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) were attacked by suspected cattle herders from South Sudan’s Jonglei State in Juba County, Central Equatoria State.

Both Jonglei, CES and Pibor officials called for calm and vow to ensure that peace is attain in the area.
