Authorities in Rumbek North county of Lakes State confirmed that the inter-clan fighting between Anien and Pajok clan of Gak section of Pakam community over an impregnated girl.
The fight has so far left 1 person dead and 6 others wounded in Meen part of Rumbek centre county.
The clash erupted when impregnated girl’s family from Anien section met with Pajok clan of Gak section from the meen side in Ayen village on Monday.
The commissioner of Rumbek North county, Moses Maker Magok told The Nile Witness that one person was killed from the impregnated girl side of Anien section who launched an attached while 6 people were wounded from the Meen side of Pajok clan who impregnated the girl .
He said the government security forces were sent to the scene of clashes and both sides have been separated.
NSS and other security apparatus will not allow to take the law into your hands and this is the stand of the government and as a county commissioner.
Doctor Teran Madit, a surgeon in Rumbek State hospital confirmed that they have received about 4 people with gunshots from Rumbek North county. He said according to the story I heard that there were clashes within Rumbek North county.
He urged parents and relatives that other wounded people need further surgical referrals and management in Juba because Rumbek State Hospital is short of some vital equipment.
He said among the 4 wounded in the fighting three (3) are men and one(1) is a woman and they were all shot at the legs.
The civil society activist Daniel Laat Kon said that CEPO confirmed the incident and that they called on both sides of the community to accept themselves and live in peace.
He said as CEPO we have been urging the government in Lakes State to deploy forces that can protect lives and property specially along the community borders.
” We are also urging the community not to retaliate and not to escalate, we need a community initiated dialogue because community initiated dialogue is what can last long”. He said
