The Executive Director for Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) Edmund Yakani has condemned the renewed armed conflict in Morobo County of Central Equatoria state.
This week, the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) and the Sudan People Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) clashed in Panyume Payam in MoroboCounty.
The SPLA-IO and the SSPDF continue to play blames games while the incident has displayed over one thousand residents according to the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission officials.
In his statement to the Media, Morobo County Commissioner Data Charles said over one Thousand displaced residents were arriving in Morobo town, fleeing areas including Panyume, Kendila, Girili and Waima.
In his honest call for peace, Activist Yakani reiterated that many residents have been subjected to suffering.
“This violence has led to further displacement of our own citizens who decided voluntarily to return from the refugee’s camps from Uganda and Congo back home in Morobo county to engage in Agricultural activities” he said.
“I call on SSPDF and SPLA-IO to dialogue and stop violence now not tomorrow, we need to live together as south Sudanese under one umbrella of the flag and with a value of our national anthem. let us be honest and sincere to each other” he added
He called in the SSPDF and SPLA-IO to embark on dialogue.
“The use of violence as an option of mitigating political difference is bad. we would like encourage our leaders to impress dialogue as an instrument for resolving their political differences” he said
“Dialogue work as at moment where leaders are honest and sincere to each other and have commitment to meet the best interest of the citizens of South Sudan which is peace and stability” he added.
He called on the warrying parties to think about the suffering and ceases hostilities.
Yakani added that the conflict in Morobo country frustrated the residents who recently return to the houses from neighbouring countries like Uganda with hope to build their lives and start Agricultural activities.
“We would like to appeal to our leaders that they still have a high opportunity of taking primary responsibility of transitioning the country from violence to peace as they have told us in several public speeches that under their leadership, they will not take this country back to war” he said
Yakani called in the peace parties to engage on dialogue in order to restore peace and stability.
