The government spokesman, Mr. Michael Makuei issued a stern warning to civilians living Nasir and surrounding areas to stay away from areas under the control of the White Army. The caution comes after the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) carried out an airstrike in Nasir, targeting White Army positions.

Speaking to the press this evening, Information Minister Michael Makuei Lueth confirmed the bombardment and emphasized the importance of civilians keeping their distance from hostile zones.

“Our air force has bombarded Nasir this morning. Vulnerable people who are in hostile areas, that is their concern. You are supposed to keep away from hostile areas. So, when the bombardment happened, it happened to the forces. If you happened to be there within the forces, then there is nothing we can do about you. But if you are in town, outside the forces, nothing will reach you,” Micheal said.

Minister Makuei reiterated that the attack specifically targeted White Army areas and did not impact civilians. However, he warned that those who remain in such regions do so at their own risk.

“Civilians need to keep away from those areas. We are giving a stern warning now because the bombardment that happened last night, it happened in the so-called White Army areas, it has not touched any civilians,” Makuei stressed.

The warning follows heightened tensions in Nasir, with the government intensifying military operations against armed groups.

Authorities continue to urge civilians to relocate to safer areas to avoid being caught in the crossfire.
