The Director General of the Directorate of Civil Registry, Nationality, Passport, and Immigration (DCRNPI) Maj. Gen. Elia Kosta Faustino has warned officers from being involve in malpractices revolving around issuance of passports.

Kosta on Thursday issued an order warning the officials from cheating the Citizens in the processing of the Passport and the National Identity cards.

He revealed that after assuming office as the director, he has noted that some of the officials are leaving their offices and loiter outside waiting for the Citizen to process their document.

He claimed that the police officer does so in order to increase the price and later on get more in the processing.

The Director General order the police officers to respect the right of the citizen and give them chance to process their document without cheating.

“From today henceforth. NO officer or NCO is allowed to process any documents, whether passport or nationality, on behalf of the citizen,” the order read in part.

“This is for the interest of the citizens and of the directorate in order to avoid fraudulence and disappointment from middlemen,” he added

Kosta urged the three Programme Support Units (3 PSU) and the Protection Unit of the DCRNPI to enforce this order with immediate effect.

“All departments and units are to communicate this order to their officers and other ranks for immediate implementation,” he urged.

South Sudanese in most case have been complaining of malpractices by the immigration officials when it come to issuing of passports and Nationality Cards.
