The Government of Jonglei State has launched a major road rehabilitation and construction initiative in Bor Town aimed at improving security infrastructure, health accessibility, and overall mobility across the state.
The project, spearheaded by Governor Dr. Riek Gai Kok, underscores the state government’s commitment to fostering development, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
“Bor Town is the face of Jonglei State. We are proud to stand with you as a government, and we are excited to see this transformation take shape,” Riek stated during the launch event.
The governor commended Bor county Commissioner Ateny Pech Ariik for his proactive leadership and initiative in driving the project forward.
He emphasized that bringing essential services closer to the people remains a cornerstone of the state’s broader development agenda.
Commissioner Ateny Pech, speaking at the ceremony, reaffirmed that improving road access has long been a top priority for Bor residents.
“Today marks the fulfilment of a key mandate. The road rehabilitation will ease movement for our people and unlock new opportunities for development,” he said
For a year, many of Bor’s roads and those linking Jonglei’s counties have been in a state of disrepair, with deep potholes, flooding during the rainy season, and limited accessibility to remote areas.
Poor road networks have frequently disrupted trade, hindered emergency medical services, and made it difficult for security agencies to respond swiftly to incidents in rural communities.
By prioritizing infrastructure, the administration is not only enhancing public safety and service delivery but also laying the groundwork for greater economic growth and connectivity across Jonglei State.
