Lakes State Commemorate International Peace Day

Government of Lakes State in Collaboration with partners celebrate International peace day under Theme: Action for peace: Our ambition for the Global Goals.”

Speaking during the event at Rumbek Freedom Square, William Koji Kerjok, government representative assure the citizen that Peace for the people of South Sudan have been signed and it has to be implemented.

“I want to assure the international community that the case or crime ongoing in the republic of South Sudan which includes the he first vice president plus the team being taken to court will not stop the peace agreement and it will not stop the election which are preparing for 2026.” Said Koji

He said there is no threat about the case or about the trial of individuals which involved first vice president Dr Riek Machar and other members who are in the court with him.

“Their case is a criminal related matter and that’s why they are to be tried in the court of Law, SPLM-IO is a party and SPLM-IO is not individuals, and that party officials are there to continue with the peace to make sure South Sudan hold elections in the year 2026”. He added

He said that’s why they are to go 3 days trial and it is fair because the court has been made publicly for the people of South Sudan to see the process and how it is going to end.

“I am calling upon the young people across the country to make sure peace in South Sudan is supported. We have to support our leadership led by general Salva Kiir Mayardit to make sure peace is maintained through out the country “, he said.

He said there are incidences that are happening across the country and it is the responsibility of young people to make sure they support our leaders in promoting peace.

” In Lakes State, we assure our people in Lakes State to make sure they maintain peace saying Rin Tueny Mabor and his team is to be supported”, he said.
