The National Election Commission (NEC) has procured vehicles for states and Administrative Areas in order to ease their work.

Addressing Journalists on Friday, Gabriel Bol Deng, Secretary General of National Elections Commission of South Sudan announced that the body has received cars for states and Administrative areas offices.

The Secretary General announced that the 12 land crushers for State’s High Elections Committees (SHECs) will ease movement of the NEC staff in states and Administrative Areas.

“The NEC has received 12 vehicles from the Buonkey Trading & Investment Co.Ltd this morning for SHECs members who are the direct implementers of theElections” Bol said.

He added that more cars are on the way to be procured toease their movement of the NEC officials across the country.

Bol added that the procurement of the cars is part of the commitment and preparation toward creditable and transparency election.

“The NEC is more than ready to carry out its mandate as per the National Elections Act, 2012 (Amendment) Act, 2023 and the R-ARCSS by conducting inclusive and credible elections before the end of the Transitional Period in February 22nd 2027” he said in a statement.

He expressed that the vehicles would ease the work of the commission in the states and the Administrative Areas.

Bol emphasized that NEC remain committed in ensuring that plans are put in plan for the upcoming 2026 election.

He added that the Commission has completed the renovation of some State High Elections Committeeoffices awaiting inauguration.

Bol revealed that with support from partners theremaining States NEC offices will soon be renovated from next month.

He called on the stakeholders to create awareness and spread the gospel of democracy.

“the commission is encouraging all the stakeholders to beat the drum of the culture of democracy which will boost the international community to support South Sudan because in the world democracy is the norm to legitimate the government through ballot” he said

Bol expressed that the government remain committed to ensure that the cars are properly use to meet their target.

He urged the NEC members in the states and the Administrative Areas to ensure that the cars are properly use in the election activities.
