South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday returned to the Capital after a short official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to the statement from Presidential Press Unit and the state-owned media SSBC Kiir arrived in the afternoon of Wednesday and received by his cabinet at Juba International airport.
“The Head of State was received at Juba International Airport by the Vice President for Economic Cluster, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, along with a number of cabinet ministers and other senior government officials” the statement partly read.
On June 22, the President left Juba for the United Arab Emirates on an official diplomatic visit according to his office.
Although the trip was expected to be briefed it was prolonged by the abrupt conflict between Israel and Iran that resulted to the booming of some party of Qatar a move that cause closure of airport.
Although the UAE government and South Sudan embassy assure the public about the safety of the public, citizens back home were worried.
Others were demanding for the return of the President before other missiles target the UAE.
The President Trip to the advance UAE is said to be bi-lateral in nature as the country try to engage with the world to improve economy and progress with development.
This was second trip to the UAE this year aimed at boosting investment.
In February, he visited Abu Dhabi to discuss cooperation in economic, agricultural, energy and infrastructure sectors according to his office.
South Sudan and the UAE maintain diplomatic and trade relations, with the Gulf nation providing humanitarian aid to the conflict-affected country.
Presidential Press Secretary David Amuor Majur told the media that Kiir will present South Sudan’s economic potential to investors, building on what he called “recent reforms aimed at attracting foreign investment.”
“The president is traveling for a scheduled diplomatic mission and will meet with key partners in the Middle East,” Majur said.
