President Salva Kiir has directed the new Governor of Central Equatoria State (CES), Rabi Mujung Emmanuel to handle land grabbing crisis and ensure Equitable land distribution in the City.
The president made the directives during swearing in of the newly appointed governor on Wednesday.
Central Equatoria state is the host of Juba which is the capital City of South Sudan.
Being the host to the City, CES continue to experience several challenges including land grabbing and wrangles over land ownership.
In order to ensure fair and just distribution, President Salva Kiir directed the newly appointed governor to ensure fair distribution as well as reducing land related conflict.
According to the statement obtained from Presidential press unit, Kiir called for the need for the state government to ensure equitable land distribution.
“President Kiir tasked Governor Mujung with the responsibility of ensuring the equitable distribution of land to meet the needs of Juba’s rapidly growing population” the statement partly read
On Governor Mujung expressed his readiness to implement the President’s key policy directives to ensure peace and prosperity in Central Equatoria.
The Governor underscored the need for collective efforts, determination, and steadfast commitment toward achieving the public interest.
He vowed to ensure that land grabbing issues are reduced.
The governor urged the state officials to cease from corruption and urge them to focus on service delivery.
“I fully understand that the challenge of sustaining the welfare of our public servants has become a burning issue. However, it should never mean that we normalize corruption at the expense of our fellow citizens and the development partners who place their trust in us,” he said
The Governor also outlined key areas that demand immediate and sustained attention including infrastructure development, health, and education essential services and fundamental rights of every citizen in Central Equatoria State.
