President Kiir directs Warrap State governor to bring stability or face dismissal

South Sudan President Salva Kiir has directed the newly appointed governor of Warrap state Bol Wek Agoth to bring stability in his area or else bring in another governor.

Warrap State, the home state of President Kiir, has faced recurring violence, including revenge killings and cattle raids, exacerbating instability.

Due to the ongoing instability, the president has been changing the governors hopping to improve the situation.

However, the presidents opened up to the public in the recent changes where he relived Lt. Gen. Magok Magok and appointed Bol Wek Agoth as new governor.

During the swearing in ceremony of the new governor, the president revealed that he will try everyone in Warrap state to governor until he gets that one person who will bring stability.

“I fired one governor yesterday and appointed a new governor, i hope he will succeed in charging his duties and iwant my brothers and sisters in Tonj I thought the problem will be put down by somebody from Tonj, it has not succeeded and so i will try the whole Warrap,” Kiir said.

The President urged the newly appointed governor to double efforts in ensuring that peace return in the area or else be relieved to give way for another person to try.

“So, Bol Wek you are now exemplary it is up to you to succeed” he added

Kiir urged the youth to cease hostilities and embark on peaceful co-existence

He reiterated government support to ensure that the newly appointed governor succeed in bringing the inter-communal conflict to an end.

President Kiir urged the people of Tonj and the wider Warrap community to welcome the new governor with open hearts and minds, and to work together with him in restoring peace.

On his part governor Bol Wek vowed to ensure bring unity among the people and ensure that those hostilities become story of the past.

“I will do my best through your support and Guidance and ensure that peace is restore will all your support” Bol said.

He appealed to all the residents in Warrap state to team up with him and ensure that peace is restore in the area.

Governor Bol Wek Agoth pledged to prioritize peacebuilding, law enforcement, and the restoration of effective local governance.

He also called on Warrap natives living in Juba to become ambassadors of peace for their conflict-ridden state.

Meanwhile due to instability in Warrap, President Salva Kiir declared six-month state of emergency in the state.
