The Spokesperson of South Sudan National Police Service (SSNPS) Maj. Gen. James Monday Enoka revealed that on Friday the police arrested more suspected gangs including six women.

Speaking to the media Enoka revealed that some women have been suspected of conducting illegal activities with the gangs hence arrested.

He revealed that while security officials were doing their normal routine of arrested gangs in Gimbo-sherikat some women were also found to be taking part in robbery and pickpocketing.

“Not only boys that are involved is gangs activities, during our operation on Friday, we arrested six women plus many others” Enoka said.

The spokesperson revealed that the women arrested by the police who cracking down on gangs were involved in drugs.

“These women look like gang and drunk together with the gang,” he expressed.

“They will be investigated because they are suspected of involvement in criminal activities” he added

The police spokesperson called on the citizens to cease criminal activities.

“The police also confiscated a pistol, traditional weapons such as bows and arrows, and a set of keys believed to have been used in breaking into shops and residential homes,” Enoka revealed

He added that some women sell toxic drugs to the young people in order to get money.

Enoka added that the women who stayed together and hid criminals were also arrested to be investigated for harboring them.

“Some women stay with criminals, the gangs, we shall look for them and arrest them as well, they are sheltering thieves” he said.

The police spokesperson expressed that the crackdown on gangs will continue until the criminal activities reduce significantly or come to a halt in Gumbo-Sherikat.

Already more than 600 suspected gangs have been arrested since the operation started after the gang-rapping of a lady believed to be 16 years old at Sherikat residential area.
