The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), in collaboration with the Embassy of the Communist Party of China (CPC), hosted a one-day symposium on August 25, 2025, at the SPLM National Secretariat in Juba.

The symposium, centered on Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy and the CPC’s experience in state governance, featured presentations from renowned Chinese scholars, Professor Wang Wen and Professor Xue Li.

The event brought together dignitaries, members of the state government, SPLM officials, and Chinese diplomats.

Addressing attendees, the Governor of Central Equatoria State, Hon. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, emphasized the significance of diplomacy as a tool for peace, cooperation, and development.

“The CPC’s experience in state governance and its longstanding partnership with the SPLM is built on friendship, solidarity, and mutual respect, This cooperation has enriched our understanding of people-centered development and the role of political leadership in driving national progress.” Said Governor Emmanuel

He further praised China’s achievements in poverty alleviation and modernization.

“The CPC’s success in lifting hundreds of millions out of poverty is a remarkable example of visionary leadership and disciplined governance.”

Governor Mujung also noted the challenges faced by South Sudan as a young nation, particularly in peacebuilding, institutional development, and economic recovery.

“Diplomacy—whether bilateral or multilateral—remains vital in fostering partnerships that bring knowledge, technology, and investment to our people,” he added.

SPLM Secretary General Paul Loggai Jimmy highlighted the growing collaboration between the two parties, particularly in capacity building and professional training.

“A key part of our agreement with the CPC includes technical and agricultural training programs for South Sudanese professionals. As a new nation, we don’t just need words—we need practical actions and learning opportunities,” said Jimmy.

Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan, H.E. Huo Ying, also spoke at the symposium, outlining recent CPC initiatives aimed at strengthening ideological education and governance.

“Between March and July 2025, the CPC launched a wide-reaching campaign to reinforce the spirit of communism, engaging millions of members in activities that embody our commitment to serving the people,” Ambassador Huo stated.

The symposium reinforced the continued commitment of the SPLM and the Communist Party of China to deepen political and developmental cooperation through shared experiences and mutual learning.
