The U.S. Embassy Juba has further reduced United States Government Personnel due to security situation in South Sudan amidst tension in some parts of the country.
The embassy In a statement published on its website stated that it is further reducing to minimal staffing personnel in Juba due to continued security threats in South Sudan.
The embassy reminded it’s citizens that South Sudan is on level 4 and advised it’s citizens not travel to the country.
When the tension started in Nasir County, Upper Nile State, U. S. embassy Juba issued an advisory warning its citizens to stop traveling into South Sudan saying it was dangerous.
The embassy urged U.S. citizens currently in South Sudan to consider departing via commercial means while they are available.
“We recommend that U.S. citizens who choose not to depart prepare contingency plans for emergency situations and be prepared to shelter in place should the situation deteriorate further.” The embassy said.
It also reminded its citizens in South Sudan to ensure that their U.S. passports and passports of their family members are up to date and have more than 6 months validity.
The embassy added that the appointments for passport renewals can be done at the U.S. Embassy.
“If you have not yet documented your child, please follow the steps found here.” It stated.
